COMMERCIAL TENANT FINISH

kansas city, mo - Crossroads District
The setting for this tenant finish project is in a 100 year-old building in the center of the Crossroads district in Kansas City, Missouri.
The client is a growing, regional structural engineering firm specializing in residential and commercial building construction, Apex Engineers, Inc.
The tenant finish project included a full exterior and interior re-use of the historic structure. The firm needed a space that would accommodate an expanding staff and help draw in young talent. The intention from the beginning was to create a fun, modern workplace that respected the history of the building. As a result, the refreshed facade of the building provided a mix of the old and new, which met the firm's expectations. The interior plan fulfilled the company's operational goals by creating an open office and a mix of meeting spaces that would be used proudly.
The structure received a new roof, windows, paint, and new cedar siding. Rather than exterior business signage, the client hired local graffiti artist Rif Raf Giraffe to create a custom mural with a thematic nod to engineering and construction. The building holds two conference spaces and a large area for collaborative work. The lounge comes equipped with a beer tap, a dart board, and a glass garage door for Friday happy hours and company events.
