FULL HOME REMODEL
WESTWOOD COTTAGE | 2017
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
RedesignKC took on this complete Westwood Hills home from top to bottom to outfit it for the next owner. Inspiration was drawn from the historic structure of the home to create a modern cottage style interior.
The exterior of the house was painted to make the brick home pop against the wooded backdrop. The landscaping was similarly updated, adding interest to the front lawn of the historic home.
On the main level, the kitchen was fully remodeled. The strategy for design in the kitchen centered on the back wall with the circle window. White quartz tops with a wall wrap splash are mixed with a concrete herringbone tile. Black hardware and fixtures accent the look. Open maples shelves provide a place to show off your dishes. The kitchen looks over a large dining space with room for a small seating area.
The lower level was remodeled to include a larger laundry space, refreshed bathroom, and a bedroom suite with a walk-out to the back yard.
We added a full bathroom with access to the hall on the second level. Charcoal gray tile, natural hickory cabinets, white quartz, and an oversized blue subway tile create a unique space that anyone would be happy to get ready for the day. The master suite was reconfigured with a large master bath with a large shower and a vanity with plenty of storage. A step down from the master takes you into the grand master closet with a central island and plenty of natural light pouring in.
The result of this total home remodel demonstrates a strong example of a renovation in one of the Kansas City areas treasured historic neighborhoods.
